3 Ways Being At Ease Can Make An Impact

It is no secret that 2020 has been a roller coaster of a year.

As we slowly make the turn from June to July, we are trying to look ahead and anticipate what’s next, but it feels next to impossible.

And also a little terrifying.

We have experienced wildfires, the loss of a legend in Kobe Bryant, a pandemic, murder hornets, quarantine, heart breaking brutality, and deep social unrest.

May I remind you, it’s July 2nd…

The roller coaster is only halfway done.

We’re hoping it starts to smooth out, but we’re on the edge of our seats.

How could anyone be at ease right now?

When you hear the phrase “be at ease”, you might think we’re telling you to kick back with an iced tea and no cares in the world.

But as nice as that sounds, it’s not the world we’re living in.

We can’t always do that.

It’s definitely not what we’re called to do in this season.

What we really want you to see is that:

Being at ease is a state of mind, not always a state of being.

In other words, it’s not a call to IN-action.

It’s actually our hope and prayer to create action.

We want to cultivate a community of people who carry so much peace in their hearts that they can go out and change the world with their hands.

Being at ease is about carrying peace inside of you, so that you are able to be brave, be bold, and take action in this world despite the circumstances around you.

So - here are three ways being at ease can make an impact right now:

  1. Lean In – When your heart is at ease, you can lean into the discomfort without worrying about being swallowed by it. It is much easier to block out the unrest, block out the bad news, block out the cries for help; however, when you are acting from a heart of peace, you can face the reality of this world without being completely destroyed by it.

  2. Learn – When your heart is at ease, you can learn without being offended. When you are grounded in the peace of God, you can branch out, ask questions and grow without the fear of losing yourself or being overtaken by shame or anxiety.

  3. Love – When your heart is at ease, you can love people who are different than you. When your peace doesn’t come from external validation or whether or not people like you, you are able to radically love without ulterior motive.

Yes, there is a lot of chaos and division in the world right now. There are a lot of differing opinions and viewpoints. It can be extremely difficult to discern which is the correct one.

But we believe that no matter who you are or where you stand, you have the opportunity to experience the inner peace of God that transcends all understanding.

You can take action and spread love.

You can be at ease.
